TVB producer Mui Siu Ching confirms retirement

13 Feb – Producer Mui Siu Ching recently confirmed that she is indeed retiring and will not be backing out from her decision.

As reported on Mingpao, speaking to the media at the promotional event of her final work with TVB, "Forensic Heroes IV", the producer, who revealed earlier that she had cerebrovascular embolism on the left side of her brain two years ago, assured that she is doing fine now but would rather focus on her health.

"The doctor said it was fortunate that we were able to detect the problem early. We were filming "Deep in the Realm of Conscience" when I kept hearing my ears pop. I could even feel the blood rush into my brain. It turned out that a blood vessel had ruptured," she said.

Mui stated that she immediately went into surgery after completing the post-production work.

"It was after realising the seriousness of my previous illness that I decided to retire," she said.

At the same time, the producer also expressed happiness that veteran actor Patrick Tse was able to attend the event.

"I was surprised when he called me and volunteered himself [to film the drama]. He is my idol and I am happy to see him. He is also very kind. I asked him to come at half past three today, and he was here at three," she said.
