This Traveling Jewelry Exhibition Is Bringing Contemporary Designers to a City Near You

Earlier this month, Watchbox and Govberg Jewelers announced a major expansion with Hyde Park Jewelers, and Radcliffe to form a new venture called The 1916 Company. Part of the new mission is putting both education and experiences at the forefront to bring the collecting community closer together within each of the brand’s product categories. With this in mind, The 1916 Company tapped watch and jewelry industry veteran Eléonor Picciotto of The Eye of Jewelry to help curate an immersive traveling jewelry exhibition that kicks off today in Miami before heading to New York City and Baltimore next month.

Picciotto was born and raised in the watch industry in Paris but relocated to the States for college. After graduating, she landed a role in the events and marketing department at Harry Winston then moved to Geneva to handle the PR and communication of the first MB&F M.A.D. Gallery. From there, she spent some time freelancing in the industry before establishing her own platform, The Eye of Jewelry, in 2015. The Eye of Jewelry emphasizes the importance of education and storytelling behind the products we love. It’s clear Picciotto’s mission perfectly aligns with that of The 1916 Company and the two bring perfect synergy to this exciting new exhibition.

Opening in Miami today and running through December 1 before heading to New York City and Baltimore, this immersive jewelry exhibition highlights four contemporary designers and their wares. Among the designers is Suzanne Syz, who will also be joining Picciotto at each destination hosting the exhibition. Syz is known for her highly original and unconventional designs which draw from her time working with legends like Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel, Francesco Clemente, and Jeff Koons. Alongside Syz, designs from Alexandra Rosier, Selim Mouzannar, and Elie Top will also be on display. Rosier’s collections focus on a blend of traditional artistry and contemporary design techniques combining gemstones with raw materials. Mouzannar takes a similar approach, marrying heritage and innovation. The brand embraces ancient techniques that have been passed down through generations and reflect the rich cultural tapestry of the Middle East. Designer Elie Top also joins the exhibition, bringing an avant-garde approach to the blend of past and present. Top draws from the mystique of ancient civilizations and wonders of the natural world and brings them to life with contemporary techniques.
