Vietnamese cuisine is becoming more common in Singapore. From super popular takeaway stalls to cafes and restaurants, relishing in the authentic dishes of our Southeast Asian neighbour has never been as easy as it is now. Vietnamese Noodles SG is a hawker stall that also sells Indian fare and recently opened at Ci Yuan Hawker Centre in Hougang.

Vietnamese Noodles and Indian Fusion Food - Banh Mi

In typical banh mi fashion, the Vietnamese Sandwich (S$6.50) is a generously sauce-slathered baguette packed with roast pork, pickled carrots and daikon. Their ongoing promotion allows anyone aged 55 and above to nab one at S$5 on Fridays, 8.30am to 10am till end Nov.

When we talk Vietnamese food, pho is the name that enters the conversation first. The meatballs in the Meatball, Chicken & Pork Rib Soup (S$8) are entirely handmade, and you can trust that the dish is kept authentic as the stallowner is Vietnamese herself. No MSG is used in the broth and even the chilli sauce for the pho is prepared in-house.

2 noodle types are available: thick rice vermicelli and kway tiao. Other pho options are Pork Rib Soup (S$7), Chicken Soup (S$3/S$5), and Meatball Soup (S$6.50). The stall also sells Vietnamese Springrolls (1pc for S$2, 3pcs for S$5).

Getting a second bowl between the lunch hours of 11.30am and 1.30pm on weekdays will halve its price in a promotion lasting till 14 Nov, though the owners may extend if feedback is good.

As Vietnamese Noodles SG is a new stall, they haven’t quite got their roster of Indian cuisine up and running yet. Some interesting dishes you can look forward to trying from the Indian menu are the Indian Fusion Vietnamese Sandwich (S$6.50)Indian Fusion Tandoori Chicken with Biryani Rice and Viet Soup (S$3/S$7), and the Chicken Masala and Samosa set with Naan/Chapati
