New in town: Tenderbest Makcik Tuckshop — 110-seater restaurant with onion blossom & half-half pizza at Sengkang Riverside Park
Sengkang residents, if you’re a little lazy to travel all the way to Punggol just to dine at Tenderbest Makcik Tuckshop, you’ll be pleased to know that they’ve just opened a swanky new outlet at Sengkang Riverside Park on 27 Feb 2023.
This 110-seater self-service eatery features both indoor and outdoor seating areas. If you think that you’ll be a walking magnet for mosquitoes when you’re sitting outside, not to worry.
There are several citronella plants strategically placed to repel those pesky little bloodsucking insects.
Be greeted with floor-to-ceiling glass windows which allow tons of natural sunlight to stream into the indoor space of the restaurant.
Now let’s take a look at the exclusive items you can get at this new Sengkang Riverside Park branch.
First of all, the menu has the Half-Half Pizza (S$17.90) which gives you the luxury of having 2 of your desired pizza flavours on one pan. I tried the Smoked Salmon Pesto as well as the Chick N Cheese.
I was brimming with excitement when I spotted Onion Blossom (S$6.90) being served here. Most places do not serve it because of the tedious process that goes into the making of this dish.
The onion petals were delightfully crispy with a savoury batter that resembled spring chicken. The honey mustard dip that came with it was both sweet and tangy (I couldn’t stop myself from going for seconds).
Do note that this particular dish is limited to 20 portions a day.
Also exclusive to this outlet is the all-day Sedap Lemak series where they serve different kinds of nasi lemak variations. I tried the Crispy Chicken Wings Sedap Lemak (S$8.90) which throws in 2 chicken wings, half an onsen egg, anchovies and peanuts, achar and a mound of nasi lemak.
The other options include Tom Yum Roasted Leg Sedap Lemak (S$10.90) and Teriyaki Chicken Chop Sedap Lemak (S$9.90).
The Trio-Cheese Sticks (S$7.90 for 6 pcs) isn’t your typical platter but features 3 different flavours (truffle, pizzeria and garlic pepper) on one plate.
After you’ve savoured all their mouth-watering dishes, why not end off your meal with something sweet? Try the Sizzling Caramelized Goreng Pisang Ice Cream (S$9.90) which features 4 pieces of banana fritters served on a hot plate and served with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
They also have beverages like the 2-litre Milo Power Tower (S$12) and Iced Smoky Caramel (S$5.90).
Park users at Sengkang Riverside Park can also expect to enjoy Potong Ice Creams (S$2.50) and Ice-Cream Cups (S$1.50) from the restaurant’s old-school ice cream bicycle cart.
Hurry down to Tenderbest Makcik Tuckshop and enjoy the comfort at their cosy indoor air-conditioned section or enjoy the nice breeze and fresh air at their relaxing outdoor area.
