New in town: Shun Fa Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice & Porridge — “One of the best chicken rice in Yishun” for $4

We love looking out for new eats in Singapore, especially ones that are new to the hawker scene. Shun Fa Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice & Porridge is a new addition to Yishun, located at a coffee shop along Block 747 Yishun Street 72.

Literally just a stone’s throw away from Northpoint City and Yishun MRT, it is undeniably convenient. The coffee shop helms a number of affordable eats, like an economical rice stall that remains to be Yishun’s most affordable caifan.

Opened in late Feb 2023, the stall is only a week old and has garnered quite a queue. Despite its far location from the central of Singapore, Shun Fa Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice & Porridge has plonked itself in a location that is convenient for everyone in that area and as a result, it has been getting quite popular.

In the stall’s signboard, the owner claims to have over 30 years of experience making and has been improving his chicken rice recipe since 1992. And after trying, patrons are clear to agree that this might just be the best chicken rice in Yishun.

If you’re here to try it out with your colleagues or friends, you can opt for a quarter of a chicken at S$12 and half a chicken at S$17. If not, a full chicken goes for S$32. You can also complete your meal with a braised egg for S$0.80 each, and S$4 for Hong Kong Chye Sim.

Alternatively, if you’re here alone to grab a quick bite, a plate of Hainanese Chicken Rice is at S$4— a very affordable rate. The chicken is plump and tender, and even the chicken breast (which is usually easily dried out) retains its moisture, so you know that the cook knows what he’s doing!

This new face to the coffee shop also sells Shredded Chicken Porridge (S$3.50), which is paired with their mouth-watering chicken. Add a dash of soya sauce for a slight saltiness and you’re all set to go.

Considering Singapore’s current rainy season, this will be perfect for you to find comfort in!
