New in town: Sampanman — Muslim-friendly seafood restaurant at Jewel Changi Airport
With its numerous eateries, Jewel Changi Airport is slowly turning into a food haven. To further cement that notion, Sampanman, which opened on 27 Dec 2022, has all of your seafood needs for the ultimate indulgence.
Sampanman is by the same folks of Arteastiq Group, who unsurprisingly brought us Cajun On Wheels, a restaurant that specialises in seafood buckets, which are also more commonly known as shellout.
Sampanman pays homage to Singapore’s past when it was still known as a mere fishing village. It promises to deliver only fresh seafood daily and with Muslim-friendly ingredients.
One of the highlight items on the menu is the Assorted Sampan, which is seafood served on a custom-made sampan boat grill. You have different options such as Shellfish Sampan (S$88), Lobster Sampan (S$128) and XL Fisherman Sampan (S$148).
However, if you’re bringing company, opt for the XXL Fisherman Sampan (S$238) which contains Sri Lankan crabs, Boston lobster, flower clams, mussels, prawns, half-shell scallops, macaroni and mantou bun. From there, you choose a sauce from flavours like Singapore Chilli Crab and Cheesy Soil Crab Sauce.
Those looking for a light lunch can opt for their Bee Hoon Soup menu with dishes like Tiger Prawns Bee Hoon (S$12) and Blue Mussels Bee Hoon (S$9). If you prefer rice, there are fried rice options such as the Seabass and Tiger Prawns Fried Rice (S$16) and Soft Shell Crab Fried Rice (S$18).
You can also add proteins with their Chuan Chuan Xiang Skewers which include Sliced Wild Caught Squid Skewer (S$2.80) and King Oyster Mushroom Skewer (S$1.50).
Taste the freshness of the sea with Sampanman!
