New in town: MoonGlow Cafe & Winebar — Experience Australia’s wine culture with bar grub at Telok Ayer

Did you know that Australia is home to the some of the oldest vines in the world, many of which are over 150 years old? If you haven’t had the chance to travel there, fret not as MoonGlow Cafe & Winebar will provide you with her splendid wines and cafe grub.

MoonGlow Cafe & Winebar - Exterior Shot

Officially launched on 1 Dec 2022 at 2A Stanley Street in Telok Ayer, MoonGlow & Winebar is inspired by Australia’s wine, dining and cafe culture, with menu offerings that boast an eclectic mix of local flavours with an Aussie slant.

For starters, there are the Steak Bites (S$29++) which is MoonGlow’s signature wagyu striploin or picanha. The meat on the plate hails from grass-fed, free-roaming cattle from Tasmania and has a marbling score as high as 7. Each order will be cooked to medium-rare perfection with in-house smoked salt as well as caramelised onions, pickled radish and wasabi.

Longing for something homely? Opt for the fittingly classic Aussie Beef Pie (S$10++) or enjoy a burst of flavours from MoonGlow’s Beef Stew (S$19++), which has sinewy cuts of MB4/5 wagyu beef that has been braised in beer. It is served with a small side of French bread toast.

The bar bites boast Asian flair too, with items like House Fries (S$12++), which are shoestring fries doused in special salted egg sauce and some garlic chilli. There are also Szechuan Wings Flats (S$14++), which feature crispy fried chicken wings doused in mala gravy.

Its wine offerings are also stellar, with wines from Foggo Wines. Options include the delicately sweet Foggo’s ‘Floraison’ Sangiovese Rose (S$14++ per glass/S$65++ per bottle) and the addictive blend of ripe fruit and spicy flavours of Foggo Cabernet Sauvignon (S$16++ per glass/S$78++ per bottle).

Currently, the cafe aspect will only be ready in Spring 2023, but don’t let that stop you from indulging in the vibrant wine culture of Australia!
