New in town: Liang Ji Kitchen — Char kway teow hawker opens eatery with prawn paste frog legs & mala grilled fish
Dominic Neo from Liang Ji The Legendary King recently made headlines with his humfull char kway teow featuring a generous number of cockles amounting to more than 30 pieces. He now has opened his first dine-in eatery at ORTO West Coast called Liang Ji Kitchen on 1 Dec 2023.
The menu from his Telok Blangah kopitiam stall will also be available here. From classics like Teochew Char Kway Teow (S$6/S$8) and Black Carrot Cake (S$4/S$6) to fancier options like Mala Bacon Carrot Cake (S$6/S$8) and the Legendary 3 In 1 (S$10/S$20) (char kway teow, fried oyster and carrot cake).
Since his Humful Char Kway Teow (S$10/S$14) is getting popular, he has also created the Humful Sotong Mee and has plans to release his Humful Laksa in the near future.
This eatery stands out from his coffeeshop stall with its diverse menu. For Frog Legs enthusiasts (S$9 for 1 frog, S$18 for 3 frogs), savour the Claypot Gong Bao Frog or Claypot Frog Porridge.
Dominic doesn’t use water but superior stock, boiled with various premium ingredients to cook his porridge.
While the tempting Prawn Paste Chicken (S$9/S$12) is an option, be sure to experience Dominic’s creation (1st in Singapore): Prawn Paste Froggy (S$18). These tender whole frogs boast the same addictive and delectable umami prawn paste flavour as our fave zi char staple.
If you’re thinking of patronising Liang Ji Kitchen in a large group, you can consider ordering either the Mala Grilled Fish (S$32) or Sauerkraut Grilled Fish (S$32). Side dishes like Chinese cabbage, long bean sprouts and shredded kelp are served alongside.
You can also choose between their 17 types of skewers like Pork Belly Skewers (S$1.80), Shisamo Skewers (S$1.80), King Mushroom Skewers (S$1.50) and Broccoli Skewers (S$1.50).
If you’re visiting Haw Par Villa or ORTO West Coast, why not drop by Liang Ji Kitchen for a satisfying meal? See you there!
