Katsu-an has 52 outlets across Japan, and specialises in pork katsu don bowls. Aside from that, they also offer teishoku, chicken katsu dons and Japanese curry.

The dishes served at Katsu-an are all relatively affordable, with their cheapest main being just S$5.90. To make things even better, the restaurant does not charge service charge, and their prices are inclusive of tax — that means the prices you see on their menu are all nett!

The must-try dish is the signature Katsu Don, a bowl of rice topped with crispy loin katsu and fluffy eggs seasoned with dashi. The dish is available at 3 prices — S$5.90 for M, S$7.50 for L and $9.50 for XL.

An alternative would be the Tenderloin Katsu Don (S$6.90/S$8.50/S$10.50), made using lean pork tenderloin.

Not a fan of pork? Not to worry, for Katsu-an also offers chicken katsu dons. Choose from 4 options, such as the Chicken Katsu Don with Egg (S$6.40/S$7) and Spicy Chicken Katsu Don (S$7.80/S$8.40).

For a more indulgent meal, opt for the Teishoku dishes, which are served with a katsu of your choice, Koshihikari rice, shredded cabbage, miso soup and seasonal vegetables. How about some Cheese Loin Katsu Teishoku (S$11.30 for 120g, S$10.30 for 80g) or Grated Daikon Radish Tenderloin Katsu Teishoku (S$12.30) to stave off your katsu cravings?
