Ex-restaurant chefs opening hawker stalls— we just can’t get enough of them. If a plate of fried rice from Din Tai Fung burns a hole in your pocket, the newly-opened Hi Fan Tian offers a more affordable alternative.

Hi Fan Tian is helmed by two experienced chefs, with one being a former chef at Din Tai Fung. The stall is located in a coffeeshop at 45 Sims Drive, and boasts a bright red storefront.

Specialising in fried rice, Hi Fan Tian offers a variety of fried rice flavours and toppings, with the most affordable being the classic Egg Fried Rice (S$4). If you’re craving some protein, add on an additional S$2.50 for Pork Chop, Shrimp or Chicken Cutlet, or an additional S$1.50 for Luncheon Meat.

Need a little more spice in your life? Go for Hi Fan Tian’s Sambal Fried Rice, similarly available in the options of Egg (S$5), Pork Chop (S$7.50), Shrimp (S$7.50), Chicken Cutlet (S$7.50) and Luncheon Meat (S$6.50). Alternatively, you can opt for the Mala Fried Rice or Prawn Paste Fried Rice, which have the same protein options and prices as the Sambal Fried Rice dishes.

Noodle lovers can try Hi Fan Tian’s noodle dishes, including the Noodles with Minced Pork (S$5), Dry Noodle (S$3.50), Dry Noodle w/ Chicken Cutlet (S$6.80), Dry Noodle w/ Pork Chop (S$6.80) and Spicy Pork Wanton Noodle (S$6.50).

For a quick bite, order Hi Fan Tian’s a la carte dishes, such as Fried Chicken Wings (S$1.50 each, two pieces minimum), Pork Chop (S$3.80), Chicken Cutlet (S$3.80) and Spicy Pork Wantons (S$4.80). Choose add on dishes like a Sunny Side-Up (S$0.80), Rice (S$1) and Plain Noodles (S$2) to make your meal even more filling.
