New in Town: Eng Kee Chicken Wings – 100 free wings at first Yishun outlet

Among the newer hawker centres opened in recent years is Yishun Park Food Centre, known for their healthy mix of traditional and modern hawker stalls. Joining this sprawling array on 1 Aug 2023 is Eng Kee Chicken Wings, an esteemed fried chicken-centric hawker franchise. As is customary with each new opening they have, they are holding a giveaway of 100 chicken wings.

To Yishunites familiar with the stalls at the food centre, this news may elicit images of a clash of culinary calibre. Why? Because there is already an existing hawker serving up tantalising cuts of fried chicken here— Ah Tan Wings.

Setting that aside for now, many rave about how the quality of their wings far outweighs the price they charge. Perhaps that explains why they already operate an impressive 6 other outlets across the island – Redhill, West Coast, Boon Lay, Punggol, Beauty World and Commonwealth. Their Kway Teow Mee (S$1.20) and Bee Hoon (S$1.20) appear to be hot favourites to pair with the wings.

If you need another reason to pay them a visit, the franchise is giving away 100 chicken wings at their new Yishun outlet. Simply follow these steps to get a shot at nabbing some free wings for yourself: Like and follow their Facebook page, then like and share their announcement post publicly, and finally comment either ‘I love your wings!’ or ‘LNS’ under the same post.

You might not want to sit on it, though, as the draw ends on 31 Jul 2023, 11.59pm. 10 winners will be eligible to walk away with 10 wings each, claimable till end Sep 2023.

Eng Kee Chicken Wings - Close up shot

One might assume Ah Tan Wings will soon have a clear competitor, but while they both tout fried chicken as their signatures, I posit that there is a clear distinction in what they offer (wings notwithstanding). Ah Tan Wings typically serves cuts of chicken with rice and sunny egg while Eng Kee has a wider selection of sides, from luncheon meat (S$0.80 per piece) to even Otah (S$1.60).

Those looking to get a crackling meal of crispy fried chicken at Yishun will soon have two renowned hawkers to pick from, but why discriminate when you can enjoy both?
