New in town: Beautiful Lai Grilled Fish – Tai Er’s sister brand at Suntec City

Singaporeans are so in favour of Tai Er‘s sauerkraut fish that the establishment opened a sister brand, Beautiful Lai Grilled Fish at Suntec City on 4 Aug 2023. The new Sichuan cuisine eatery focuses primarily on grilled fish dishes. It is the franchise’s 5th outlet after accounting for the other 4 Tai Er eateries.

In comparison to Tai Er’s interior, Beautiful Lai Grilled Fish is much more colourful with warm hues and a festive atmosphere.

Beautiful Lai Grilled Fish - grilled cheesy fish and green pepper

In place of the sauerkraut fish is Beautiful Lai’s signature Green Pepper Grilled Fish (S$55, S$56 for spicy), crispy on the outside and delectably tender on the inside. Leiocassis fish serves as the base and it is a good complement to the flavourful broths.

Many also praise the restaurant for achieving the right level of spice level, infusing just enough numbness with the spiciness. Their Cheese Tomato Grilled Fish (S$58) gives less spice-tolerant diners an alternative to diving headfirst into spice.

For sides, Fried Spicy Bullfrog (S$36) is a traditional Sichuan dish given a modern twist in the form of fries. Expect it to be generously spiced and well-seasoned. Crispy Coconut Chicken (S$12) can be a suitable addition to the lineup of spicy dishes with its fragrant batter and as a protein source.

Beautiful Lai Grilled Fish - Chicken and Lemon tea

After all that fanfare on your tastebuds, either give them some respite with free-flow tangerine-peel roselle tea or choose between enormous cups of Camellia Tea with Passionfruit and Orange (S$6) or Iced Lemon Tea (S$6).

If you’re already a huge fan of Tai Er for their sauerkraut fish, there is little doubt that Beautiful Lai Grilled Fish’s mala flavours will exceed your expectations.
