Here are the top 10 museums in the world according to TripAdvisor

New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art has been named the world's best museum by TripAdvisor travelers who gave the iconic institution top marks.

In the 2016 edition of TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards for best museums, The Met leads the top 10 list which is dominated mostly by museums across Europe.

For the ranking, winners are determined using an algorithm that takes into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for museums over a 12-month period.
