Tony Yu apologises for airport mishaps

12 Jan – Chinese singer Tony Yu is saying sorry for the recent commotion that occurred at the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport because of his fans.

On 11 January, the singer took to Weibo to express his apology for the incident that occurred earlier on 4 January, when fans came to welcome him at the airport - causing an overcrowding at the location.

Making things worse was several of them were reported to have shouted at the authorities when they came to maintain order.

Following the backlash over the situation, Tony posted, "I feel deeply guilty and remorseful for the congestion incident at Hongqiao Airport on 4 January, and I also would like to apologise to the police, staff and passengers at the scene for causing unnecessary trouble to everyone."

"After the incident, I deeply realised the seriousness of the problem. The team also communicated with the law enforcement officers in the jurisdiction that night, and discussed a safer way of travel under their advice and guidance to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. I am sorry that this incident has brought about a very bad influence."

Tony then promised to resolutely prevent this from happening in the future, and that he humbly accepts everyone's criticism.

China anchors 'monster ship' in South China Sea, Philippine coast guard says
