Tony Leung to star in Hungarian director Ildiko Enyedi's new movie
25 Aug – Tony Leung Chiu Wai is set to star in the upcoming new movie by Oscar-nominated Hungarian director Ildiko Enyedi, "Silent Friend".
The actor will appear in the third story of the three-story movie set in the Marburg Botanical Garden, a mediaeval university town in Germany. He will play the role of a renowned neuroscientist traveling from his hometown of Hong Kong to the Marburg Faculty.
The three stories will be interconnected by a tree in the said botanical garden over a period of more than 100 years.
"I have been an avid fan of Ildiko Enyedi since watching all of her previous works. She is incredibly talented, intelligent, humble and so nice," said the actor about the upcoming collaboration.
Meanwhile, Enyedi stated that she penned the character especially for Tony.
"The whole storyline of his episode is defined by those personal sensibilities I could only guess behind the brilliant actor. I was absolutely humbled that from the first read of the script he became such a great partner in the thinking not just about his role but about the whole project," she added.
The movie will begin shooting starting April 2024.
