Tom Hollander once accidentally received Tom Holland's Marvel cheque

Tom Hollander has revealed he once accidentally received a cheque for "an astonishing amount of money" meant for Spider-Man star Tom Holland.

Hollander – known for his roles in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, The King's Man and The White Lotus – was asked during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers if he'd ever been confused with the Marvel star, and he revealed that he'd once received an Avengers bonus meant for Holland.

"People in the accounts department of my agency got confused. We were with the same agents briefly. And it was a terrible moment," Hollander recalled, adding that he had felt smug at a friend's theatre production after receiving a £30,000 cheque for a BBC show.

"[Then] the interval came and I checked my email and I got one from the agency saying, 'Payment slip for first box office bonus for The Avengers.'"

He continued: "It was an astonishing amount of money. It was not his salary, it was his first box-office bonus. Not the whole box-office bonus, the first one.

"He was 20 or something [at the time]. So my feeling of smugness that you remember I had in the first half disappeared completely. But that's showbiz!"

Hollander will next be seen playing author Truman Capote in season two of anthology series Feud titled Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans.

An eight-part miniseries, the show is adapted from the book Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era and tells the story of Capote's feud with several female friends after he stabs them in the back with his writing.

Meanwhile, Holland recently addressed his future as Spider-Man, revealing that he has been involved in conversations about a fourth outing for the character.

"All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character," he told Collider.

"I won't make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character."
