Todd Snyder to Offer Gardening Clog, Fisherman Sandal With New Gardenheir Collab

More from Footwear News

Todd Snyder is getting garden-ready for his latest collaboration.

Releasing on Friday, the tie-up sees the menswear designer team with gardening experts Gardenheir on a 12-piece capsule collection that ranges from clogs to smocks.

The capsule features two made-in-Italy shoe styles – the aforementioned gardening clog and a leather fisherman sandal. The clog, which comes in an olive-green colorway, is constructed with a waterproof, 100 percent closed cell polyurethane upper and features removable cork insoles with suede leather lining. The style is offered in men’s and women’s sizes and retails for $90.

As for the fisherman sandal, the upper is made of 100 percent Italian leather and features a crepe sole, adjustable ankle strap and antique brass hardware. The sandal will be available in two colorways – cognac and black – in both men’s and women’s sizes. It retails for $258.

“Some of the team were already wearing Gardenheir’s clogs when we decided to partner with them over a year and a half ago,” Todd Snyder said in a statement. “There was a natural affinity for these designs because we both love adding a modern twist to field clothing that has an authentic purpose behind its design.”

Gardenheir is the brainchild of artist Alan Calpe and fashion executive Christopher Crawford, two New Yorkers who bought a weekend house in the small Catskill Mountain town of Windham, N.Y.

As they renovated their house and the surrounding land, Calpe and Crawford fell in love with gardening but were struggling to find gear and attire that fit into their aesthetic. Launching Gardenheir was their effort to fill that void in the market, bringing English copper watering cans from Haws, gardening tools from Holland’s Sneeboer and Japanese gardening smocks into one site.

“We launched Gardenheir with the idea that there must be other people out there: younger, interested in well-made things, who come from creative spaces,” Crawford said. “Or just people with really sophisticated tastes for whom gardening was a creative outlet,” added Calpe.

The Todd Snyder x Gardenheir Collection will be available on June 28 at ToddSnyder.com, Todd Snyder stores, Gardenheir.com and Gardenheir’s retail location in Windham, N.Y.

With this new tie-up, Gardenheir joins Snyder’s extensive collaborative footwear portfolio that already includes top brands like Sperry, Cole Haan, New Balance and Clarks.

In August, Snyder stepped out on his own to launch his first-ever mainline shoe style – the Tuscan Court sneaker.
