Just about everyone and their mother menstruates. So why do we feel so icky when we drop a little blood talk IRL? If you’re sick and tired of padding the conversation about periods, get ready to let it flow, because today is Menstrual Hygiene Day!

In honor of MH Day’s global movement to build awareness about the fundamental role that good menstrual hygiene management plays in enabling women and girls to reach their full potential, we’ve put together a light list of period-heavy activities to celebrate your uterus, ovaries, and vagina’s monthly collabo, and to shout out your support of your blood sisters around the world!

1. Bleed all over social media.

Instagram Story your memories of your first period. Post pics of the rad Moon Party you threw for your goddaughter. Sound off on Twitter about the 38 states that are holding out on abolishing the tax on menstrual products. Share some rad pieces of period art created by your favorite feminist artists.

Periods are not the end of the conversation — they’re just the beginning. So, join the conversation on social media and don’t forget to hashtag #MHDay and #menstruationmatters!

2. Switch to reusable menstrual products.

Did you know that the average woman will use 12,000 tampons in her lifetime? Times that by 26 million women in the United States alone and that equals enough tampons to exceed the height of the Empire State Building if they’re placed end-to-end, three times over. What a waste! Show Mother Earth some love by investing in reusable menstrual hygiene products, like Diva Cups, Thinx period-proof underwear, and Lunapads. She’s the reason we’re all here!

Want to make the change to reusable menstrual hygiene products, but short on cash? We got you. You and your bestie can enter to win a pair of Intimina Lily Cup Compacts as part of MH Day! But that’s not all. Get 30% off all Thinx products now through tomorrow, May 29th! Score!

3. Support organizations that are passionate about periods

From WASH United (the initiator of the first MH Day in 2013) to Days for Girls International to #Happy Period (which provides menstrual-hygiene kits to homeless women and teens), there are so many period-tastic organizations committed to removing the stigma around menstruation and increasing access to clean, affordable, and necessary menstrual hygiene. Donate, volunteer, or shout them out on social. Together, we can create a crimson wave of change!

Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day!
