Tiger Hu talks relationship and academic fraud
13 Jul - Chinese singer Tiger Hu (formerly known as Anson Hu) recently opened up about the fact that he had never graduated from the Shanghai Music Conservatory.
As reported on Xinhua, the singer, who appeared on Jiangsu TV's "My World, My Voice", shared with the audience about the controversy surrounding his academic background, as well as his short-term relationship with actress Zheng Shuang.
Tiger admitted that he felt guilty whenever reporters asked him about his academic background.
"Actually I hadn't [graduated from Shanghai Music Conservatory]. The fact [why I never admitted to this] is because I wasn't confident and was afraid that others will doubt my talent in music."
Looking back, Tiger said that he found the deception funny, adding, "Academic background is not important. I can confidently say now that I am a professional musician."
As for his past romance with Zheng Shuang, which was first reported back in August last year after they were spotted acting chummy with each other, Tiger admitted that it was not received positively by others.
"A lot of people said that I'm not handsome and that it was just a cheap publicity to promote my concert," he said.
The singer, however, said that he didn't care about the comments.
When asked why then he decided to delete his social media account following the attacks, Tiger responded, "I wanted to protect the relationship, to protect my family from the attacks."
Back in March this year, Zheng's father confirmed that the couple has split up.
