This 2-in-1 Neutrogena retinol moisturizer and sunscreen is down to $18

'People think my daughters are my sisters': Shoppers 50+ say the longtime favorite battles fine lines without being greasy.

The number of anti-aging beauty products out there is seemingly endless. But whether you're frustrated by fine lines, sagging, lack of elasticity or dark spots, there are two things you need in your arsenal, experts say. The first? An excellent face sunscreen. Second? An equally wonderful face moisturizer with retinol. Better yet: Find a product that does both — like Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol Face Moisturizer with SPF 30. FYI: It's only $18 (that's 40% off) during Amazon's 4th of July sale.

This cream is designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines, crow's feet, deeper wrinkles and more. Hyaluronic acid helps hydrate your skin, while a potent glucose complex aims to strengthen your skin's barrier.

Why is this a good deal? 💰

Considering a good moisturizing sunscreen with retinol can cost upwards of $40, $18 is more than reasonable — especially when this fan favorite is marked down by 40% from its still-great original price of $29. Plus, having reliable sun protection is priceless (though we'll take a discount when we can!).

Why do I need this? 🤔

This Neutrogena moisturizer packs a one-two punch of SPF 30 and retinol, so you can reap wrinkle-fighting benefits while protecting your delicate skin from harmful sun exposure. Speaking of which: Make sure to apply this generously 15 minutes before heading out under those UV rays. The formula is designed to blend in seamlessly, without leaving a greasy film behind. Summer is already sticky enough, right?

What reviewers say 💬

Don't be fooled by the almost-too-good-to-be-true sale price — this stuff has scored over 12,000 five-star ratings at Amazon, plenty of them coming from shoppers over 50.

Pros 👍

"I have used way more expensive department store products for years and financially I just can't justify the cost anymore," said one fan. "I am 61 years old and I have accepted the fact that I will never look 30 or 40 again. This product has definitely made a difference in the look, feel and texture of my skin."

"You will never be sorry for trying this," shared one over-the-moon mom. "I am 68, and people think my daughters are my sisters. Your face will thank you for using this."

A longtime customer shared her story: "I have been using Neutrogena products for over 45 years, evolving into skin care products for a maturing female," they wrote. "I'm definitely starting to wrinkle, but the culprit has been living in the sun on water (and I'm allergic to OTC and Rx sunscreen...) Neutrogena is doing the best that it can, it's silky and not 'sticky' and is both invigorating and moisturizing."

"Unbelievable," wrote a fourth shopper. "I am 55, and this is the first cream that has ever worked. It evens out skin color and reduces fine lines. I really didn’t think any cream could do that!"

Cons 👎

A handful of shoppers take issue with the smell. "There is a strong scent," emphasizes one four-star reviewer. "In my opinion, it's not a bad scent but when first applied, it is quite strong." Meanwhile, another said: "The fragrance takes some getting used to, but it could be worse. This is a great product to tighten the skin and smooth out the wrinkles."

Another issue, according to a few customers, is the pump bottle, and it's the only reason the following reviewer knocked their rating down to four stars: "This pump bottle may be easy to use, but it's very wasteful. I end up banging it on the counter or using a Q-tip to get what seems like the last 20% of the cream."

Speed up your morning skin-care regimen with this 2-in-1 powerhouse.

Retinol isn't just for your face! Tons of shoppers are fans of Gold Bond Age Renew Retinol Overnight Body & Face Lotion, in case you want to round out your collection.

"It contains seven moisturizers, including shea and cocoa butters, to help keep skin hydrated," our own reviewer said. "I'm pretty sure it's because of this that I woke up after the first application with zero redness or itching. But even better? My skin felt noticeably more moisturized and smoother just eight hours after I'd slathered it on, and stayed that way the rest of the day."
