The Crow Reboot Back On Track

Although the upcoming reboot of ‘The Crow’ has had its fair share of misfortune, it looks as though the studio has managed to turn things around.

According the The Wrap, the upcoming reboot of the ‘90s classic is being pushed into production early next year with director Corin Hardy at the helm… but there’s still no word on who gets the leading role.

“The Crow director Corin Hardy has signed a holding deal with Relativity, which will make the comic book movie its first post-bankruptcy production in March,” they revealed. “There’s no star currently attached to play Eric Draven.”

Corin Hardy is perhaps best known for the 2015 horror movie, ‘The Hallow’ which debuted at the 2015 Sundance Festival. But now ‘The Crow’ seems to be calling…

The original 1994 cult classic follows the story of Eric Draven – a rock musician who is resurrected in order to avenge the murder of his fiancée. Originally played by Brandon Lee, it’s thought that the reboot will follow this same leading character… but who will land the role remains a bit of a mystery.

“Locking in Hardy is a good sign for the project and its progress to the big screen,” they added. And that’s no exaggeration.

The upcoming reboot has been plagued with problems since it was originally announced… including losing its leading actor twice. Both Jack Huston and Luke Evans were attached to the role at one time or another, but were both forced to pull out due to complications.

Since then, we’ve seen a number of new names rumoured to be involved, including Nicholas Hoult and Jack O’Connell. But director Corin Hardy says his leading man is someone that we might not expect…

“I’ve got someone in mind who would be a fresh and inspired decision,” he told Empire Magazine. “It’s not who you think…”

“It’s been a strange couple of months,” he added. “I had a full cast of actors coming together. We were set up in Pinewood Studios in Wales. I had my offices and art team ready… But I don’t think it’s cursed - that would be terrible! Having just made an independent movie that took eight years, it feels the opposite.”

‘The Crow’ reboot heads into production March 2016.
