Thailand picks "How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies" as Oscar submission

7 Oct - Thailand has selected "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies" to be its official submission for the Oscar's Best International Feature Film competition.

The news was announced on 4 October by the National Federation of Thai Film Associations (MPC), as the film continues to make waves around Asia and overseas.

Co-written by Boonnitipat and Thodsapon Thiptinakorn, the film stars Billkin as a scheming young man who quits his job to care for his dying grandmother in hopes of inheriting her fortune.

Said production company GDH, "The movie has brought people of all generations to theaters, with viewers in their 20s to 50s bringing their 70- to 80-year-old grandparents to experience the film together, an increasingly rare sight in today's digital age. The magic of the movie-going experience, however, remains irreplaceable, and How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies embodies that cinematic magic like no other."

The news came after Malaysia announced "Abang Adik" as its official submission, while Indonesia picked "Women from Rote Island" as its representative film.
