SINGAPORE - A day after a video of its employee went viral, Texas Chicken Singapore announced that it would not be replenishing the highly popular chicken bags at the moment.

A viral TikTok video by user @usman26waw posted on Monday (17 April) showed a Texas Chicken employee breaking down in front of a contactless ordering machine after customers demanded for the chicken bags, which were part of a promotion celebrating its 13th anniversary.

Texas Chicken Singapore on Tuesday confirmed that the staff member was overwhelmed by the crowd and was stressed having to manage queries on the bags, which had been fully redeemed.

"For those who left disappointed, we are genuinely apologetic and do promise to do better. The Chicken Bags are currently out of stock and we will not be replenishing them at the moment," the chain said in a response to queries from Yahoo Southeast Asia.

The management team has since reached out and spoken to her, and assured the public that the staff was feeling better now.

Texas Chicken Singapore said it would also like to extend its gratitude to members of public who were comforting the staff.

It added that it was also thankful for the 'overwhelming response and support' over the chicken bags, and were apologetic over stock running out.

"Let us all spread kindness and love as we nurture our little chicks – your understanding and support will go a long way," it said.

For those who are still keen on the bags, a check by Yahoo showed that similar chicken bags are currently available for purchase on e-commerce sites Shopee, Lazada, Taobao, AliExpress and Carousell.

Prices range from $2.90 on Taobao to as high as $60 on Carousell.
