Teresa Mo on fitness: Moderate exercises, low sugar diet

25 Apr – While most people would have ignored how they look as they entered their 60s, 58-year-old Teresa Mo proves that she is as disciplined about her body image as she is with her acting.

The actress, who spoke about her fitness routine with Mingpao recently, shared that she doesn't think of herself of being "too focused on beauty", but to always make sure she takes good care of her health.

"I do not pressure myself to look pretty, because I am not an idol. But being old doesn't mean you can't have a healthy life and a youthful state of mind. That's why I never gave up on doing exercises," she said.

However, Teresa doesn't consider herself a gym buff, and would always make sure not to overdo it.

"I fell in love with Hip Hop once. I do the jumps every day, three times a day. I lost all the fats and moisture and became too thin and gaunt. It was embarrassing," she said.

She added that exercises must be done in moderation, which is why she now exercises three days a week - mostly yoga, stretches, and fast walk - for over an hour each time.

In terms of diet, Teresa shared that she refrains from taking lots of sugar, and would only eat fruits that are low in sugar content like blueberries, avocados and kiwis. She also makes sure not to be 100 percent full, and not to take any food after 6pm.

When asked if her love of cooking has ever ruined her diet, Teresa responded, "People who like to cook usually doesn't eat that much. They only taste the food while it is cooking and have no more appetite after it's done."
