Taste Good opens 2nd outlet in Chinatown Complex, with modernised local dishes like Salted Egg Chicken Rice
Taste Good 好味小厨 may not be an unfamiliar name to some folks, having been covered by various publications (including us) for their affordable local dishes with a twist. With a new outlet in Chinatown Complex, there is now no need to travel down to Sim Lim Square!
Considering their unique menu items like Salted Egg Chicken Rice (S$5.90) and Marmite Pork Ribs (S$5.90), their popularity is a no-brainer. Frequent diners often comment on the long queues for Taste Good’s economy rice. Thankfully, at Sim Lim, there is a separate queue for those who want to order from the à la carte menu.
Their second outlet opened in Chinatown Complex on 1 May 2023, serving a modest menu comprising 8 dishes. Quite a stark difference from their original outlet at Sim Lim Square, one must admit. It seems that the stall wanted to focus on their à la carte dishes, rather than their cai fan variety.
Providing other iconic dishes — Crispy Cereal Fish (S$6.50) and Buttermilk Pork Ribs (S$5.90), Taste Good definitely has a number of dishes sure to amaze both your tastebuds and mind. All dishes are served in mini woks that will look fantastic in pictures, perfect for the food photography enthusiasts!
The question presents itself — is the Salted Egg Chicken Rice as good as it proclaims? Well, yes! Lathered in smooth, thick salted egg gravy, the chicken flesh was tender and was impeccable with each spoonful of rice.
For the Buttermilk Pork Ribs, the pork ribs are true to its name, buttery with a slight milky flavour. It also has a slight kick of spice to help mitigate the jelak feeling, creating a perfect balance.
With their second outlet located in central Singapore, Taste Good is now in an accessible area, giving much convenience. It would be a treat to stop by Chinatown Complex to try out the goodies this famous stall has to offer!
