Tarek El Moussa Didn’t Think He’d Ever Get Married Again, But Now He Has Hope
Life is pretty unpredictable. Just ask Flip or Flop's Tarek El Moussa, who has gone through several life-changing events over the last couple of years-ones, he says, he never could have anticipated-including cancer treatments, a very public divorce, and dodging various rumors involving him and his now remarried ex-wife, Christina Anstead.
Despite it all, though, Tarek told RuPaul (and a TV audience) recently that he wouldn't actually change a thing-because the split has helped him grow into who he is today.
"The day [Christina and I] met, we pretty much connected right away and, you know, we built a life together," he told the television host best known for RuPaul's Drag Race of his first marriage to the woman he met when he was 24-years-old. When RuPaul asked whether he ever saw himself getting remarried, Tarek kind of smirked and gave a bit of a surprising response: "If someone asked me that question a few months ago, I would have said 'no.'"
From there, he added, "But! I have hope, I do have hope. As more time goes on, the more my eyes are opening to what's out there and I do believe there's more for me out there. I do believe in love. I really believe in love."
While the divorce really changed Tarek, fighting cancer was another battle that made him into the strongest version of himself. "When you're facing death, it makes you question who you are, what you are, and why you're here," he shared. Today, he looks back and realizes just how different he was then and how hitting rock bottom has essentially transformed him for the better.
