Tang Yifei admits grandparents contracted Coronavirus

14 Feb – Chinese actress Tang Yifei recently admitted that some of her relatives have contracted Coronavirus, making her the first case of a celebrity with family affected by the pandemic.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actress who is from the city of Wuhan, spoke about her family situation in an interview for Hunan Satellite Television, where several stars including Tang herself shared the experience of their Lunar New Year celebration.

Tang said that she and her family cancelled their Lunar New Year's Eve dinner with their relatives after realising the severity of the pandemic. However, they later learned that both of her grandparents, as well as her aunt were infected by the Coronavirus.

"I get concerned when I think about it. If we didn't cancel the reunion dinner at the time, the consequences would be unthinkable," she said.

Asked about her relatives' current condition, Tang said that they are all stable.

"Even my 80-year-old grandmother who has a serious illness had fought to get better," she added.
