Tan Chui Mui: This is the last time I will act in a movie I direct!

6 Dec – Although she has won her first Festival Filem Malaysia's Best Actress award, actress-filmmaker Tan Chui Mui recently stated that "Barbarian Invasion" would be the last movie where she is both the lead and the director.

The filmmaker, who spoke to the media after accepting the award at the event held last weekend, stated that wearing two different hats on the same movie project is not an easy thing.

"I had to even ask for producer Woo Ming Jin's help on set. I was running to the front and behind the camera. I'd only be an actress for other directors in the future," she said.

Tan also stated that she didn't expect to win, and was rallying her support behind friend Sangeeta Krishnasamy, whom she said did very well in her movie, "Juang".

"I was so sure Sangeeta would win. When it was announced, I could barely believe it because I was really tired. It was late and I was hungry," she said.

Among other worthy contenders Tan bested to win the accolade include "Bernice Chauly ("Spilt Gravy"), Mei Fen Lim ("Prebet Sapu"), and Sara Ali ("Air Force The Movie").
