Takuya Kimura explains decision to remain with Johnny & Associates for a long time
24 Dec - Takuya Kimura recently spoke up about his decision to stick with his old company, Johnny & Associates (now known as Smile-Up) for a long time despite the scandal concerning its late founder, Johnny Kitagawa.
As reported on Oriental Daily, in a recent appearance on the show "Please, Let Snowman Do It", Snow Man member Raul said that he feels safe working in the same talent agency with the said performer, but has wondered why Takuya remained with the agency amid its controversies for quite some time when leaving might be an easier option.
Responding to his question, Takuya, who is now managed by Starto, admitted that choosing to quit would be an easier choice, but that he always believed that his career is not just the result of his personal effort.
"We exist because of the support of fans. The feelings invested by fans include not only the bits and pieces since I joined the company, but also the interactions and connections between members within the company. I think this is the key point," he said.
Takuya continued, "If I only consider my personal interests, it might be easier to quit the company, but I don't consider it purely from a personal perspective."
However, his response had since sparked polarising reactions from fans. While some commended the actor for his loyalty, others think that it would have been better for his fans if he left the controversial company and find a new management rather than stay with Johnny & Associates.
