Takashi Sorimachi plays a pathologist for the first time in new drama

9 Jan – Takashi Sorimachi is back with a new TV Asahi drama "Great Gift" alongside "Asa Ga Kita" star, Haru.

As reported on Mingpao, the former Japanese heartthrob is playing a doctor for the first time in the drama, which is written by "The Last Man: The Blind Profiler" scriptwriter, Kuroiwa Tsutomu.

The drama tells the story of a pathologist named Tatsumi Fujimaki (played by Takashi) who discovers a mysterious bacterium in a patient's corpse that is found to be contagious and highly deadly. However, he later finds that it is not a simple medical issue, and finds himself sucked into the dark whirlpool of political struggle.

Speaking about the character, Takashi stated that he is drawn to Tatsumi since they are both in their 50s and has a reckless personality.

"Other people mistakenly think that I am a cool person. In fact, it is just the opposite. For example, recently I made a mistake in a ramen shop by eating the food that was for another person," he said.

This year marks his 30th anniversary in showbiz. Asked about his resolution, Takashi said with a smile, "I would like to slow down and think before I act."

The drama to set to premiere on 18 January.
