Takashi Sorimachi happy to be back as "Onizuka Sensei"

4 Mar - Takashi Sorimachi had fans feeling nostalgic after he made his appearance in the trademark Onizuka Sensei's black shirt at the press conference of the upcoming "GTO Revival".

On 2 March, the actor appeared at the Tokyo event alongside co-stars Wataru Hyuga, Sa Okazaki, Rikako Yagi, and Mei Hata to promote the upcoming drama, which will be aired on Fuji TV on 1 April, wearing a black shirt and pointing a finger to the audience as how his character would do in the original series.

Speaking about his return as former biker gang member-turned-teacher Eikichi Onizuka, Takashi stated that Fuji TV has approached him multiple times to reprise the role, but that he only finally said yes after 26 years.

"I was curious as to how do the students look like now? How is Onizuka Sensei now? So, I agreed to do the revival," he added.

Meanwhile, new cast member Mei Hata stated that she and her fellow co-stars weren't even born yet when the first drama aired or when the original comic series came out, but is honoured to be a part of the special drama.

"It feels like a dream come true," she added.
