Psy Sits at Second Place Behind Justin Bieber on iTunes
Gangnam Style is still going strong, placing in second on US and Canda’s iTunes music video charts.
On August 18, Gangnam Style, the main song for Psy’s sixth album, placed second on US and Canada’s iTunes music video chart. Ahead of him was Justin Bieber at number one and behind him was Katy Perry at third place, being the only Korean artist surrounded by world renowned pop artists in the higher ranks.
YG Entertainment stated, “Seeing that Psy’s song has entered the overseas charts for iTunes shows just how much popularity the song is gaining.”
The company added, “iTunes music videos cannot be streamed, but must be bought as a download, and so that means Psy’s Gangnam Style is being continually bought, allowing him to be at second.”
The music video for Gangnam Style has surpassed 30 million views on Youtube and has placed fifth on US’ dance single chart and first for Finland’s dance single chart on iTunes.
Meanwhile, Psy’s guerilla concert for Gangnam Style, which was held in Gangnam Station will be revealed on SBS’ Inkigayo on August 19.
