PC download charts: 'Counter Strike: GO,' 'Darksiders II'
Updating a PC gaming classic is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, immediately becoming the Steam Network's best seller for the week by Monday, August 13, while across other download sales charts Darksiders II prepares for imminent release and Borderlands 2 remains bouyant.
Not released until August 21, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive overhauls enduring favorite Counter-Strike: Source (2004), a first-person shooter whose appeal lies in its elegant simplicity and requirement for both fast reactions and tactical thinking; PC and Mac game CS:GO will also mark the series's first official release to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Elsewhere, pre-orders for Borderlands 2 and Darksiders II remain high, with mythological action game Darksiders II the more imminent of the pair, due August 14 in North America and from August 20 in Europe, as opposed to Borderlands' off-kilter offworld roaming in late September.
There's room for a genuine new release in the form of Legends of Pegasus, 5th on the Impulse chart and making to 10 on both Steam and Gamersgate.
