T.J. Miller to Exit 'Silicon Valley'

All you tech nerds will have to find another incubator to crash in: T.J. Miller is leaving HBO’s Silicon Valley after this season.

Miller, who has played foul-mouthed pothead Erlich Bachman for the past four seasons, won’t return for the comedy’s just-announced fifth season, our sister site Variety is reporting.

“The producers of Silicon Valley and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for Season 5,” HBO said in a statement. “In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations.”

Miller has a stand-up comedy special, T.J. Miller: Meticulously Ridiculous, airing on HBO next month, and he played himself in a pair of episodes of the network’s freshman comedy Crashing. He also has a busy film career: He co-starred in last year’s Marvel hit Deadpool and is set to appear in the upcoming Ready Player One, directed by Steven Spielberg.

Miller’s Silicon Valley run will wrap up with the Season 4 finale, airing on Sunday, June 25.
