Syamel releases new Eid song to celebrate daughter and mourn late mum

22 Apr – Despite being busy balancing between being a new father and working as a performer, Syamel still found time to record a new Eid song called, "Erti Lebaran".

The singer, who spoke about the new song, stated that his Eid becomes more meaningful this year since the birth of his little girl Khawla.

"Recording this song has been quite different this year," he said, adding that aside from the birth of his child, this year also marks the first year that he lost his mother, who passed away in 2021.

"I cannot describe how saddened I was [by the loss]. But with God's graces, my wife and I were blessed with Khawla," he said.

The new song, co-written by singer Yuka Kharisma, is inspired by Eid songs of old performed by the late Tan Sri SM Salim and Datuk Jamal Abdillah, which revolve around memories with loved ones.

"This is quite a balance step that I took to record a classic sounding song with high sentimental values, since other artistes are coming out with a more modern song," he said.
