Can you hear the bells?

Love is in the air and it’s about to sealed with a formal ceremony come December, when local artiste Joel Choo weds his girlfriend of 10 years.

Choo, 29, made the announcement on Monday (26 June) on Instagram. He wrote: “So I just turned 29 today, I guess it's time to get married soon.

“Thank you for a decade of love and friendship, looking forward to celebrating many more milestones and sweet moments with you.”

Choo’s agency, TCP Artistes, only confirmed that the wedding will happen later in December but a date was not provided.

In a statement to the media, Choo said of his fiancee, “She has been a pillar of support in my life, supporting me in everything that I do and inspiring me to be the best version of myself.

“I am blessed and excited to be able to embark on this journey of life with my best friend."

The Instagram post was accompanied by photos of the happy couple and the side profile of his fiancee can be seen in one of them.

Aside from that brief glimpse of her face, Choo’s fiancee wasn’t identified. That is intentional, however, as TCP Artistes told Mothership that they’re keeping it under wraps for now.

Choo, the son of veteran actor Zhu Houren, was formerly managed by The Celebrity Agency, the artiste management arm of Mediacorp.

He parted ways with the company in May 2021 but said that he had projects in the pipeline and will be definitely pursuing his music career.

Besides his acting career, Choo is also in an indie rock band called Maxime, which he formed with his polytechnic classmates.

The wedding announcement may come as a surprise as it doesn’t seem like there was previous mention of his girlfriend.

In fact, in a 2017 interview with 8days, Zhu mistakenly thought that his son had a crush on actress Carrie Wong.

And when asked if he was seeing anyone, Choo told 8days, “I think I'll focus on my career for now. I don't really talk to my dad about personal stuff though. I'd rather confide in my friends.”
