Supergirl TV Series Casts New Superman

It’s official – ‘Supergirl’ has found its Superman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Teen Wolf’ actor Tyler Hoechlin has joined the cast of ‘Supergirl’ as the iconic superhero, Superman.

“The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the CBS-turned-CW series has cast Teen Wolf grad Tyler Hoechlin as Superman/Clark Kent,” they revealed. “The newest version of the iconic superhero will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist) in National City at the beginning of the series’ second season when it moves to its new home on The CW.”

Of course, Tyler Hoechlin is best known for the role of Derek Hale in MTV’s ‘Teen Wolf’ series. But he’s no stranger to the big screen either, appearing in Farrelly Brothers comedy ‘Hall Pass’ as well as the upcoming ‘Fifty Shades Darker’.

He also appears in the Richard Linklater sports comedy, ‘Everybody Wants Some!!’.

“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

‘Supergirl’ originally aired on CBS with Melissa Benoist in the title role.

But after a network reshuffle, it’s now heading to The CW where it will sit alongside other DC comic book shows ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’. And with Tyler Hoechlin landing the role of Superman, it looks as though the move could have been a great one.

‘Supergirl’ stars Melissa Benoist as the iconic female superhero, with Tyler Hoechlin joining as her cousin, Superman. Mehcad Brooks stars as James Olsen alongside Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott Jr, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant.
