Summer Style: 7 Chic Sun-Guarding Shades
Sun’s out, which means one of two things: you’re either the soaker or the sucker. With winter in the rearview, we’re all too eager to re-expose ourselves to those beloved UV rays we’ve missed so much. But before you rush out the door and debut your fabulous off the shoulder silhouette, make sure to protect yourself before you wreck yourself. Last year we compiled our favorites, and this year we’ve made a brand-new list of our favorite in-season, super-chic, UV-protective, to-die-for (or live for?!) sun-friendly fashions.

THE LENS
First in the series: sunglasses. With sunglasses, the bigger the better. If the higher the hair the closer to heaven, then the bigger the blocker the closer to… a crow’s-feet-free lifetime? Make sure to keep an eye out for UV-protective lenses, too—not all oversized sunglasses offer UVA/UVB protection. We recommend asking for these specifications before ordering to make triple sure. 1.Oliver Peoples + The Row—Don’t Bother Me, $340
Oliver Peoples teamed up with the Row to make these gorgeous under-cover sunglasses. With super-wide arms, your temple and the corners of your eyes are well-protected. 2.Fendi Jungle, $480
No doubt the city can be a jungle sometimes—but so can the beach, you know? These tall-cornered, wide-frame sunglasses are perfect protectors, and the height means even the top of your cheekbones (so prone to dark spots) will be partly protected, too.
3.Ralph Lauren Woven Shield Sunglasses, $349
Shield says it all: the lens on these Ralph Lauren frames crosses and protects the bridge of your nose, offering a vital extra dose of protection for one of the most vulnerable parts of your face. Italian-made metal and acetate with 100% UV protection.

4.Le Specs Self Portrait—Edition 2, $125
Cool, calm, rose-tinted glamour: Le Specs’ Self Portrait line is a super excuse for selfie. The frame comes in matte blush (which we love, seen here), pearl tan, or gold. The category 3 lenses offer the maximum in UV sun protection.

When it comes to crow’s feet (and the elevens) squinting is your enemy. Not only are these Karen Walker frames large enough to protect from the sun, the lenses also offer high sun glare reduction—you’ll be smiling even if you’re not oceanside.

A classic and timeless pair of shades with great coverage. The straight top line guards from the sun while highlighting your great brows—these are a favorite of the one-and-only Kim K.
