Strictly's Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez tease wedding plans
Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez famously met on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2017 when they competed against each other in the fifteenth series of the celebrity dance competition.
Despite not being coupled up on the show, the pair are now engaged to be married and have shared their plans for their future nuptials.
Atkinson and Marquez got engaged on Valentine's Day 2021 but have not yet set a date for their wedding.
"I'm the most chilled bride I think because as long as it's just close family and friends there really we wouldn't want anything big," Atkinson told Hello. "We know we don't want a massive glitzy occasion, just something nice, with the people there who we want there and chilled really."
The former soap star went on to explain how she's received some top tips for the big day from fellow Strictly couple Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec.
Atkinson revealed they advised her not to go overboard with multiple wedding celebrations.
"Janette and Aljaz had three weddings," she explained. "We went for lunch with them and she said, 'We had one in Miami, one in Slovenia and one in England.' And I said, 'How was it?' And she went, 'Don't do it!'"
The laid-back bride-to-be confessed the plan for her wedding will be "whatever's easiest" as she's already happy with where they are as a family right now.
Further detailing her relaxed approach to the special occasion, Atkinson continued: "I don't want us to be stressed and all anxious leading up to it, it's just at the end of the day it's another day. It's a lovely day but it's not the main focus, if that makes sense?"
Atkinson and Marquez have already settled into family life together as they share a three-year-old daughter named Mia.
