Stephy Tang says her genre change is unintentional

20 Oct - Hong Kong actress Stephy Tang admitted that the movies she makes now are different than those she did back when she was still dating actor Alex Fong.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who was known for light romance movies such as Patrick Kong's "Marriage with a Fool" and "L for Love L for Lies", has recently been focusing more on the artsy drama and action route.

Her latest two movies are the action comedy "Husband Killers" and the film festival favourite, "Somewhere Behind the Mist".

When asked about it, Stephy, who is currently filming the new movie "Empty Hand" (also titled "Karate"), shared that she has received fewer offers to do romantic films since the breakup.

"Maybe the directors think that my state of mind is somewhat different, and that I wouldn't be interested in those kinds of movies. But actually, aside from the changes in the past couple of years, I have already moved on from the issue. As a professional actress, I would try my best to perform in any kind of movie," she said.

When asked if she would be okay working with director Patrick Kong and her ex Alex again, Stephy said that she would not resist making romance movies, though she may have to consider the team.
