Stephen Colbert is adopting the "show must go on" approach for his own namesake series this week.

The official social media accounts for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert announced on Monday that the host has tested positive for COVID-19. And despite that diagnosis, Colbert will continue to host his CBS late-night show remotely from the comfort of his home.

"MEANWHILE... The Late Show will look a little bit different tonight because Stephen is At Home with Covid (he’s ok!)," the post read on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). "But be sure to tune in as the show will go on remotely with Monologue, Meanwhile, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Ricky Velez. #whatyearisit?

At the time, the show did not share how long it would continue virtually as Colbert, 59, recovers. However, Rachel Maddow, Talking Heads and Jon Batiste are among the lineup of guests to appear on The Late Show later this week.

The show posted an update from Colbert on Wednesday stating that he'd be out for the remainder of the week.

"Sorry to say, per doctor’s orders, I’m going to be out for the rest of the week," the social media message read. "Resting up so that I can deliver the hand crafted, artisanal talk show that we so enjoy serving you."

The note accompanied a photo of socks and onions that Colbert joked came from fellow late-night host Jimmy Fallon. "In the meantime, a heady blend of Paxlovid and onions in my socks (thank you, Fallon) will be rebuilding my immune system," Colbert continued.

This wouldn't be the first time Colbert's show was impacted by COVID-19 — he also canceled a taping in April 2022 amid a bout of COVID.

"Yep! I tested positive for Covid, but basically I'm feeling fine- grateful to be vaxxed and boosted," he previously shared on social media. "Thank you for the well wishes. This just proves that I will do anything to avoid interviewing Jason Bateman."

Colbert had another COVID scare the following month, with his show's official X account indicating that he was "experiencing symptoms consistent with a recurrence of COVID."

"Out of an abundance of caution for his staff, guests, and audience, he will be isolating for a few additional days," the post concluded.
