Stephen Colbert to Air Live, Uncensored Election Night Special on Showtime

Stephen Colbert is about to get raw with a live, uncensored election night special that will air on Showtime.

“Stephen Colbert‘s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This S—?” will air on Nov. 8 at 11 p.m/10c, allowing the “Late Show” host to react to the 2016 Presidential election results in real time.

Colbert will be able to do things he’s never been able to do in this campaign, such as directly quote a candidate without being bleeped.

“It’ll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime,” Colbert said.

Airing live from The Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City with a studio audience, the one-hour program will also feature remote segments and several surprise guests.

While “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” has broadcast live for the conventions and the presidential and vice presidential debates, this special is unprecedented in that it is the first time the show has partnered with a cable network to produce a live event.

The election night special is produced by the same team responsible for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Colbert, Chris Licht, Tom Purcell and Jon Stewart are the executive producers.

Showtime president David Nevins first teased the idea of Colbert going live on election night during the TCA summer press tour in August. “Stephen wants to do it, I want to do it, the studio wants to do it,” he said at the time. “It’ll be Colbert unfettered.”
