Stephen Chow's "Journey to the West" sequel gets release date

25 Oct – The sequel to Stephen Chow's 2013 movie, "Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons", has recently announced its release date.

As reported on CRI News, the movie, which is for now titled "Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons 2", is set to be released during Chinese New Year, which falls on 28 January next year.

Unlike the first movie, which was the biggest hit of the year, the sequel will not be directed by Stephen but filmmaker Tsui Hark in their first collaboration ever.

However, Stephen did write and produce the movie.

And while the first movie starred Wen Zhang, Huang Bo, and Shu Qi, the new movie will star Kris Wu (who replaced Wen Zhang), Lin Gengxin, Yao Chen, and the current Sing Girl, Jelly Lin Yun.

No further details have been released regarding the movie.
