Stephen Chow to produce variety show for iQiyi
26 Apr - Stephen Chow is set to produce a variety show in mainland China in collaboration with iQiyi.
The show, which is called " The King of Stand-Up Comedy'", is a play on one of Stephen's hit movies released in 1999, which marked the debut of Cecilia Cheung.
It is said that the variety show project will be the first step in the collaboration between Stephen's Bingo Group and the said giant streamer. The two parties reportedly will also work on drama series and animated features together.
Stephen also spoke about the partnership recently via Instagram, with a funny video he captioned, "My office has always been regarded as the dragon or tiger den. Everyone is far away from it. Today, someone dared to kick in. It turned out to be an invitation to the iQiyi World Conference."
It was just earlier this year that the comedy auteur inked a deal with Douyin, the Chinese sister company of TikTok, to produce a series of mini-dramas for mainland China audiences.
