Fans of Singaporean pop star Stefanie Sun were treated to a surprise live-streamed concert yesterday (9 June) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her music career debut.

Sun released her first album, Yan Zi, 20 years ago on 9 June 2000.

The video of the live concert, which was first streamed on Facebook Live, is still available to watch on the social media site. Sun later also released the concert recording on YouTube and Instagram.

Sun started her Facebook livestream at around 8pm Singapore time. In a half-hour segment before her performance, the 41-year-old singer took time to share her thoughts and answer questions from netizens.

Sun appears at the 3:20 mark in the original Facebook Live video (below) while the concert segment begins about 35 minutes into the video.

The concert set lasts for close to 40 minutes, during which Sun performs with a four-person band. The musicians are seen maintaining a safe distance from each other and wearing masks.

The Mandopop singer was supposed to tour this year to celebrate her 20th anniversary, but the pandemic had scuttled her plans.

Sun’s video has already been viewed close to 900,000 times as of today.
