Stay at home with Dr. Jason Leong: Perceptions on interracial relationships

In the last episode of Stay at home with Dr. Jason Leong, the stand-up comedian opens up about his interracial marriage, and the perceptions he's faced from society. Leong, who's married to his wife, Komella Anne, and celebrating their ninth year anniversary this year shares: "It’s really great to be part of an interracial marriage because it gives you an insight and allows you to participate in another culture (sic)." "(When) dating in 2006, people from outside of my bubble in Klang Valley where I live in, the response was like a huge shift in expectations from the environment. People think that dating or marrying outside a race makes it a big deal," he added. Leong is the first Malaysian to win the 7th Annual International Hong Kong Comedy Festival, and he went on to attract a wider audience when he performed a full professional set at Laugh Factory in Hollywood, USA and Gotham Comedy Club in New York. Leong has also opened for Harith Iskandar in front of 9,000 people at a sold-out show at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil, calling it ‘the best night of his life.’ It was also the first English stand-up comedy show to be broadcasted on Astro First, Pay Per View in Malaysia.
