Staud Launches Bridal — and Each Piece Is $900 or Less

Almost a year after Sarah Staudinger's memorable "Vogue" wedding, her brand is officially entering the category.

Staud has long been a favorite for weddings — for the recently-engaged, for guests, for bridesmaids that don't want to look too... bridesmaid-y. Founder Sarah Staudinger also had one of the buzziest Vogue weddings in recent memory, culminating in a custom gown by her brand. But bridal and bridal-adjacent attire has always been something that customers carved out for themselves among its existing offering, mixing and matching Wells and Irie dresses with customized Moon bags to suit their needs. Staud has been paying attention, and it's responding in kind.

On Wednesday, the brand introduces its official venture into the category, Staud Bride. The debut collection "was inspired by weddings throughout history that still feel both timeless and relevant for today," Staudinger shares via e-mail. "I wanted to evoke that same emotion in the clothes themselves and expand the world of Staud. It's always fun to be able to dress our girl for another day in her life."

Staudinger's own Staud wedding dress "was really a jumping-off point for the collection," she explains: "We pulled elements that I loved about that dress into various silhouettes — the thin straps, the dropped waist and the column bodice."

In addition to a selection of white pieces for a range of wedding-related events — bridal shower, bachelorette, ceremony, reception — there are also options specifically for wedding guests. And this being Staud, there are plenty of accessories as well: handbags and shoes, but also veils that can be customized.

"The development of the collection was a direct reaction to our customer's desires," Staudinger says. "We listened to their needs for a stylish and affordable range of pieces that can carry them through the wedding season and expand the wardrobing of our brand."

The result, she continues, "Is both dressed up and recognizably Staud."
