Stars pay tribute to late Strictly dancer Robin Windsor

Strictly Come Dancing star Robin Windsor has died at the age of 44.

The dancer worked on the star-studded BBC competition from 2010 to 2013 and performed with celebrity contestants Patsy Kensit, Anita Dobson, Lisa Riley and Deborah Meaden.

Windsor’s death was announced on the official Facebook account of Burn The Floor, the dance company he co-founded.

The statement shared on social media paid tribute to Robin and detailed his career with the dance company.

“The Burn the Floor family has lost one of its founding members, Robin ‘Bobby’ Windsor - who has tragically passed away,” the statement read. “A BTF journeyman he danced with us for twenty years - including Broadway, The West End and all our crazy adventures around the world.

“His stunning image attached with Jessica Raffa defined our company, colourful, extreme and sensual. His talent, attitude, energy and personality helped create the Burn the Floor stage reputation.

“He leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, yet our wonderful memories will stay forever.”

Several of Robin's Strictly co-stars also paid tribute, with James Jordan sharing an emotional post on X (Twitter).

"I had the pleasure of working with this man for many years on Strictly," the former Strictly pro wrote. "Everyone who came in contact with him adored him, from his celebrity partners to his working colleagues. You will be missed old friend."

Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley, who was coupled with Windsor in the 2012 series of Strictly, also shared an emotional tribute on Instagram.

"My Bestie, My Robin, My Angel... now our forever Angel, who is loved, will always be loved, forever in my heart," she wrote, alongside a collage of photos. "My very broken heart, I love you, shine your beautiful, electric energy from heaven. SHINE IN PEACE."

Meanwhile, Susanna Reid (who danced with Robin for the Children In Need special episode of Strictly in 2011) payed a touching tribute while co-hosting This Morning.

“He was an absolutely remarkable dancer, incredibly strong, so creative. He was just so enthusiastic about dancing,” she said. “I just adored him. He was the most incredible personality and as soon as I danced with him, there was something very special about him.”

She also remembered how she felt “so lucky” to be paired with Robin, who filled her with “so much confidence”.

Susanna added: “He had an infectious sparkle. You felt like you were dancing with someone who just embodied the magic of Strictly.”
