Stars help victims of flood in northeastern China

7 Aug - Chinese stars have stepped forward to lend a helping hand to the victims in Hebei province, which has been enduring the floods in the wake of Typhoon Doksuri.

As reported on Tencent, actor Huang Xiaoming has donated 20 rescue boats to the disaster area through his foundation, with stars like Jiang Xin, Zhang Zifeng, Kitty Zhang, Tong Liya, Huang Bo and others joined in and participated in disaster relief.

At the same time, more and more materials including food aid were donated. These include mineral water, instant noodles, milk, more than 10,000 cans of porridge, flashlights and other survival necessities.

Yu Shuxin also donated a large number of emergency supplies to the stricken area in ZhuoZhou, which had since been received by the local government for distribution.

Meanwhile, Hebei native, Zanilia Zhao Liying donated a batch of supplies to the village below the dock town of Zhuozhou City to help the people affected by the disaster. It is said that the actress chose to deliver the supplies directly to the most needed places, as she understood the geography of the area as someone who hailed from the countryside herself.

On the other hand, several netizens photographed Han Hong's welfare trucks heading towards Beijing, another disaster-stricken area. Although there has been no announcement from the star, many believed that Han wanted to do good deeds silently.

Around 1.54 million people had been evacuated from at-risk areas in north China's Hebei province since 5 August. It was reported that floodwaters could take up to a month to recede in the province.
