Spike Orders ‘Caraoke Showdown’ Game Show Series Hosted By Craig Robinson

Spike has ordered 10 half-hour episodes of new game show Caraoke Showdown, hosted and executive produced by The Office alum Craig Robinson.

The series features Robinson posing as a driver, picking up unsuspecting contestants who are along for a unique ride upon realizing they are on a karaoke-inspired game show. During various rounds of game play, contestants must belt out their favorite tunes, finish the lyrics or act out songs for cash.

Howie Mandel serves as Executive Producer along with Alice Dickens-Koblin, Peter Herschko, Brian Veskosky and CORE Media Group serving as the production company.

Caraoke Showdown will tape in Los Angeles and New York this summer and debut on Spike in 2017.

Caraoke Showdown, which was originally greenlit as a half-hour special in February but has not aired, is looking to build on the success of Spike’s hit Lip Sync Battle, which was spawned by the popular bit on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Lip Sync Battle is the most-watched show in Spike history. Caraoke Showdown is reminiscent of another popular late-night segment, “Carpool Karaoke” on James Corden’s Late Late Show.

Robinson is best known for his role as the acerbic Dunder-Mifflin employee Darryl Philbin on NBC’s Emmy-winning The Office. Currently, he recurs on USA Network’s critically praised Mr. Robot.

This is the second game show Spike has greenlit in 2016. That Awkward Game Show, hosted by Jeff Dye goes into production this summer and premieres in the fall.

APA represented Veskosky and Herschko in the deal.
